1st debate: Walford B1 v.s B2
Posted on May 27th, 2009 at 6:33 am by jamieb97 and

I had My first Debate this afternoon. Luckily we were debating against the other Walford team. We were the  affirmative team, and we were debating that ‘our news coverage is too trivial’. Our 1st speaker was Anabelle. She was lucky because she didn’t have to do rebuttal and she went really well. Their 1st speaker was Lucy. She had some good points in her speech and did well in her rebuttal. I was walfords B1 second speaker. The adjudicator  said that with my rebuttal I need to be more confident with it. Their 2nd speaker was Lily she also spoke well and had some strong rebuttal points. Our Third speaker Hannah had really really strong point against their argument. Their Third speaker Jasmin had strong points an had lots of points and a good summary. Before I tell you who won, i thought it would be good to know what the team lines are here’s Walford B2s line “One Persons Trash Is Another’s Treasure” and B1s Is “Trivial News Makes Us Oblivious To What’s Crucial”. I don’t Know what the score was but B1 BEAT B2 BY 3 POINTS! Annabelle, Hannah and I were really happy that we won, but it was a close debate.

The Second Part Of The Global Leaders Convetion
Posted on May 25th, 2009 at 5:48 pm by jamieb97 and

After Recess, we went back to the room we were in before and there was masking tape on the floor with a paper bag in each square. My friends and I choose the tribe EUMBRA. The people who were running the convention got up and told us that this game was just like survivor and you have to make paper bags with one piece of news paper and a gluestick. Next they told us that we had to choose a captain and we choose Natalie and then they came around and put tribe markings on our faces. Natalie also had to wear a bandana. After, they told us what we did with the bags: we had to make 5 of them to get one kilogram of corn. When they rang the bell we had to pay our utter respect to Alex who was acting as the president of Kenya.

The First Part Of The Global Leaders Convention
Posted on May 25th, 2009 at 6:52 am by jamieb97 and

Today Natalie, Zoe, Fleur and I went to the Global Leaders Convention. We were chosen from the applications we wrote. When we arrived we got given tags that had a colour on them. The red group sat at the tables and got given donuts, the Blue group sat on chairs and the over crowded green group sat on the floor. Natalie, Fleur and I got to be in the green group, while Zoe got to be in the Blue group. Then we got lead into a room by what colour and number we were. Next we had some tests that we had to do as a group. The first test was a knowledge test the Red group got help from adults, the blue group got a bit of help, and the green group got to start later and finish first with no help and they were SILLY Questions like what are the names of the U.S President’s kids and what is the brand Crayola’s most popluar colour. The next test was a invention test, the red group got a bunch of straws, newspaper and stickie tape and got a lot of help. The blue group got less straws and less newspaper and a bit of stickie tape with no help and the geen group got just a few straws, 2 pieces of newspaper and no help. What we had to do was build the tallest tower we could. Like you would probably think, ours was just a big clomp of straws and the blues was ok and the reds was taped to the ceiling and was resting on a chair. The last test was a personality test where we just fill in our own answers. When we finished we headed to where we were before, when we first arrived. One of the men stood up and went on stage and showed the results on a screen (which we thought were fake). After that he told us that the green group were representing people in poverty and how they were treated. The Blue group were people whose lives were ok and the red group represented those who were treated normally. That’s when we realised that they weren’t trying to be mean it’s just that’s what other people get treated like.

If you want to know about what we did read the my next few posts “The second Part of The Global Leaders Convention” and “The Last Part Of The Global Leaders Convention”
